Morzine
Morzine is a village before it is a resort: you ski from the streets, and the domain runs off in three directions from the centre. It is the most versatile of the four, and where I give most first lessons.
The sectors
Le Pleney
1000 – 1500 m
Straight out of the centre. Wide slopes, short lifts, ski back to the village — the beginners’ sector.
Pointe de Nyon
1500 – 2019 m
Higher, steeper, quieter. The right ground for moving from blue to red.
Super-Morzine
1000 – 1700 m
The link to Avoriaz, and a useful fallback when snow is thin low down.
- Who it suits
- Beginners, families staying in the village, and anyone who wants quick access to the rest of the Portes du Soleil.
- Meeting point
- At the foot of the Pleney or Super-Morzine gondola, depending on the day’s plan. Confirmed the evening before.
- Getting there
- Geneva 1 hr 15. Free shuttles around the village in season.
